New crops, more chicken and piggery, Improved solar power source

Friends, these past several months have been incredibly difficult for practically everyone around the globe due to the COVID-19 pandemic that has plagued the world. In Uganda, luckily we have not been hit hard by the virus as such, but the economic impact has been devastating. In order to curb the spread, the government ordered a complete lock-down which started in the middle of March and has remained in effect till now. Although some businesses and means of transportation are beginning to open slowly, however most are still either prohibited from opening or are open but with restricted hours.

Fortunately, our operations at the farm were not impacted too much. We continued, unimpeded with all of our activities. In May we added 1000 new chicks to our poultry project. In June, four of our expecting sows produced for us a total of 37 new cute piglets.

Additionally, we grew more maize (this season we have approximately 11 acres of maize ready for harvest within the next week and half), tomatoes, egg plant, passions fruits, mangoes, coffee trees, and lemons. We also expanded our water source by connecting more solar panels to power the pumps in order to have a constant water supply for our crops.

In this link are some of the pictures of our most recent developments.

Be blessed. Stay Safe.
